Healing Through Sound

Sound Healing is a therapeutic practice that uses sound vibrations and frequencies to promote mental, emotional & physical wellness. It works to re-balance the sympathetic (fight or flight) and para-sympathetic (rest and digest) nervous system. It can reduce anxiety, decrease stress, provide emotional balance, and promote deep relaxation by changing the brain waves. Sessions can help clear the mind, alleviate distractions, and boost focus and cognitive function. It can be a meditative experience in the form of focused awareness.

GONG

"One of humanity’s oldest sound technologies, the gong, emerged from the temples of East and Southeast Asia over 4,000 years ago, with its earliest known use rooted in ceremonial and healing contexts.

Cast in bronze, each gong is tuned to a unique frequency range and is capable of producing a wide harmonic spectrum.

What makes the gong so singular is its multidimensional voice. When struck with a soft mallet, the gong opens a vibrational field. The sound waves impact and adjust the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system. Each strike creates a vortex of sound which entrain the brain, heart, and nervous system into deeper coherence. In sound healing, the gong is used to dissolve stuck trauma patterns, disorganize overactive neural loops, and align the listener’s field into a zero-point reset.

This "sonic massage" can reduce physical tension, stress, and muscle stiffness, as well as lower heart rate, blood pressure, and improve circulation. It helps to slow brainwaves, shifting to a state of deep relaxation."

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What should I bring?

A : It may help to bring a yoga mat, blanket, and/or pillow for relaxing, and chairs will be available as well.

Q: What should I expect?

A : Sometimes expectations can be inaccurate or limiting. It’s best to come with an open, curious mind and an attitude of neutrality. Each and every experience can be very different. Allow whatever comes up, and be gentle with yourself.

Q: What Sound Healing is NOT?

A : Sound Healing is not predictable, nor is it necessarily fun or entertaining, and it may even be possible to feel resistant or agitated by the sound. Similar to a chiropractic adjustment or acupuncture, some input may feel challenging, but can result in deeper integration with time & repetition. Our brains are wired for predictability, so deep change takes sustained effort.

Q: What do the donations go for?

A : Donations go to pay the space rent, promotions, website, fliers, domain name, equipment, and expenses to sustain the live events, and keep them accessible.

Q: Should I come regularly?

A : If you feel you are benefiting, then regular attendance can help to promote a general sense of connection & wellness, and manage the effects of everyday stress.

Q: Can I bring a friend or relative?

A : Yes, bring anyone who would like to experience it for themselves.

Q: How is this different from other sound baths in town?

A : These sessions are being conducted by a practitioner who has been doing this since 2008. This active, holistic, multi-modality approach prepares the mind & body to deeply relax for the maximum integration/benefits of the sound waves.

Q: How do I take care of myself afterwards?

A: Some folks like to leave immediately to get to a quiet space. Others like to stay and ground themselves by chatting or relaxing before driving home. Listen to your inner voice. Drink lots of water and remain observant.
